Play Is Essential To Cognitive Development

As discussed previously, “Play is essential to development because it contributes to the cognitive, physical, social, and emotional well-being of children.”.

Here, we look at how 77boxes can help your child’s cognitive development.

Our categories, ‘Retro and Puzzles’; and ‘Spies and Detectives’ are the most obvious examples of categories which assist your Special Young Person to develop cognitive skills of logic and reasoning. This is where your Special Young Person learns to reason, form ideas, and solve problems. Play is the perfect learning tool, as the child actively wishes to engage in these activities.

In a previous post, 77boxes mentioned the importance of the ‘ah-ha’ moments, in the development of the brain. A child, discovering a solution for her/himself will experience these moments. This not only opens their brain to more learning, but encourages them to seek out more such moments of learning. As mentioned in a previous 77boxes post, the more a brain pathway is used, the better it will develop.
